CSR Equine’s state-of-the-art sports medicine Trailer was on display during the La Cense American Quarter Horse Association fundamentals of Horsemanship Festival in Dillon on June 13-14.

The Sports Medicine Trailer returns to Dillon on June 20-21 and to Twin Bridges on June 24-25 for the Old Timers Rodeo.

This mobile, fully equipped diagnostic and therapeutic center is staffed by Drs. Ellis Farstvedt, D.V.M., ACVS board certified surgeon, and Mandi Holland, D.V.M., a certified equine acupuncturist.

On Friday and Saturday, Dr. Holland provided people attending the festival with detailed information on the use of acupuncture to treat horses and the benefits for performance horses. She also conducted a tour of the trailer for horsemen interested in observing the latest technology that is available.

The acupuncture presentation supports CSR’S philosophy of providing a vehicle for teaching and servicing the nation’s equine industry.

With the Sports Medicine Trailer, the team has established a new standard of care for equine performance horses at major shows and events in the West, with on-site high level medical health care.

The veterinarians use a 48-foot, custom designed Sundowner trailer as the physical site for their medical practice. The climate controlled facility is supported with both diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to help care for equine competitors.

Diagnostic equipment and services include:
• Eklin Mark III Digital Radiography
• Chison Digital Ultrasonography for soft tissue
injury diagnosis
• Olympus 1 Meter Endoscopy for viewing upper
airway structures
• i-Stat Blood Analysis Machine
• Pre-purchase and lameness exams

Therapeutic equipment and services include:
• VersaTron Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)
• Game Ready™ Equine dry cold and active
compression therapy
• IV Fluid administration
• PowerFloat dental equipment
• Acupuncture treatment
• Joint injections

The mobile sports medicine facility is operated in conjunction with the CSR Equine clinic at the Copper Spring Ranch in Bozeman. CSR Equine operates a state-of-the-art medical and surgical center that is open to the public as well as being used for the ranch’s Quarter Horse breeding operation.

The 10,000-foot facility also functions as a referral hospital that serves horse owners in the West. CSR Equine offers a full range of reproductive services, surgical options with an intensive care unit, emergency medicine treatments, lameness and sports medicine therapies, advanced digital imaging technology, acupuncture and general medical care.
